Mandate of KVK

To conduct On Farm trials for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use systems.
To organize Front Line Demonstrations on proven technology for production and feedback information in farmers’ fields.
To organize trainings to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
To organize short and long term vocational training programmes in agriculture and allied fields for the farmers and rural youth with emphasis on learning by doing for higher farm production and generating self-employment opportunities to the youths.

Activity

1. Training and capacity programs for farmers, farm women, extension personnel and rural youths: KVK Mon regularly conducts training program for farmers, farm women, extension personnel and rural youths both on/off campus covering a wide range of topics on agri. and allied activities. These programmes designed to improve skills and knowledge of the local farmers to adopt local modern agricultural techniques.

2. Skill development training programmes: Specific training is offered to the rural youth and farmers of the district to improve their livelihood opportunities. This includes training of vermi-composting, poultry farming, mushroom, bee keeping etc.

3. Field Days: Field Days are organized where farmers visit demonstration plotsto observe successful practices in action. This direct engagement helps create awareness and motivate farmers to implement these practices on their farm.

4. Exposure visits: It is also arranged for farmers as well as students to visit agricultural research institutes or model farms in other regions allowing them to learn from other successful farmers. 5. Soil Health Camps: Through soil testing services, KVK Mon helps farmers understand the nutrient content of their soil and provides recommendation for balanced use of fertilizers. This enhances crop productvity and promotes sustainable soil management practices.

5. Mobile Advisory Servirces: Regular mobile advisory services are provided to the farmers to disseminate real time agricultural information; farmers receive guidance on crop management, pest control, livestock and poultry, fisheries, weather update etc. helping them make proper decisions.

6. Animal Health Camps: KVK Mon regularly conducts animal health camps providing veterinary services, vaccinations and health care advice for the livestocks.

7. Frontline Demonstrations (FLD): Demonstration of latest agri. and allied technologies and value addition etc.

On Farm Trials (OFT): On Farm Testing for technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use system are being carried out both on/off campus. Regularly monitoring, data collection and analysis, feedback from farmers are maintained. The technologies which are found suitable are disseminated through FLD

The KVK imparts various regular training programmes in agriculture and allied fields for practicing farmers, farm women; rural youth/school drop-outs; extension workers/in-service personnels. There are two types of training programmes: First type is scheduled training programmes for which training topics and dates are fixed by the Kendra and applications are invited from the farming community and youth for the programmes through wide publicity in print and electronic media. The second type of training programme is organized to meet the specific demands from individual farmer, farmers group, voluntary organizations, development departments, etc.
